ACOG Scope

The ACOG scope as seen in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

The ACOG Scope (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) is a weapon attachment featured in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. It is a sight which features a clear reticule and zoom. Some British weapons featured in the game display different scopes when the ACOG scope is equipped, including the Swarovski scope and (most commonly) the SUSAT scope. However, with the exception of some weapons in the campaign modes, the name of the weapon is usually displayed as "gun name ACOG", regardless of the scope on the weapon.

[edit] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

In multiplayer, the ACOG (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) scope offers increased range, but decreased accuracy when compared with the red dot sight. Available on all guns except shotguns and pistols. It is unlocked for a weapon after you obtain 150 kills with any weapon apart from sniper rifles, which require 100 kills.

ACOG Scope as seen in Modern Warfare 2

In Modern Warfare 2, the ACOG scope has significantly less zoom but gives the player a better view of their surroundings. It features a clear crosshair reticule, although some players prefer the chevron reticule of the scope from Call of Duty 4. The scope from Modern Warfare 2 is much more similar to a real ACOG scope. The ACOG scope can be unlocked for all primary weapons except the Riot Shield, after getting 150 kills with that weapon.

[edit] Call of Duty: Black Ops

In Black Ops, the ACOG scope is available on all primary weapons except shotguns, as well as the Python. Again, there are several different models which are used depending on the weapon the scope is applied to; an American ACOG scope, a Russian PK-AV sight (with a circular reticule), a Swarovski scope for the AUG, a SUSAT scope for British weapons, and a special modified ACOG for the Python. It costs 2000 COD points.

[edit] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

An ACOG scope was seen in the E3 demo, so the attachment is confirmed to make a comback in the upcoming title.
