The AK-47 (or AK47) is a fully-automatic assault rifle manufactured by Kalashnikov. It is used of the most common rifles in the world, and in appears in three Call of Duty games; Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. It is also confirmed to appear in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

[edit] Call of Duty 4

The AK-47 is effective at medium range. In single player, it is mainly used by most enemies you encounter, but you can easily pick it up after you have killed them. It has a Magazine capacity of 30 rounds, and it has a Maximum ammunition of 300 rounds in Single player, and 180 rounds multiplayer. Strangely, the AK-47 Grenadier found in the single-player will hold a maximum of 308 rounds. It reloads every 2.5 seconds when loaded and every time its unloaded it takes 3.25 seconds.

It is one of six weapons with a golden skin available, the other five being the M60E4, Desert Eagle, Dragunov, Mini-Uzi, and the M1014.

The AK-47 is a huge power-house gun, and in any mode is unstoppable with Stopping Power.

This gun is also known for the different animation for reloading the grenade launcher. This is due to the AK-47 being equipped with a GP-25 grenade launcher, while most other assault rifles use the M203 grenade launcher.

[edit] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Singleplayer The AK-47 has returned to the series with a different look from its COD4 counterpart. It has a different stock, white/beige furniture, collapsible stock, and a top mounted rail system. The AK-47 can be found frequently through almost any mission that features the OpFor,Militia, or Russian Federation soldiers as enemies. Most are found with GP-25 grenade launchers, red dot sights, acog sights, or no attachment. A few AK-47s in "Exodus and "Wolverines" can be found with holographic sights. A few times friendlies will be seen using AK-47s, such as roach using it during extraction in "Loose Ends"

Multiplayer The AK-47 is the last weapon in the game to be unlocked. It is unlocked at level 70 (Commander) Thus, it is not as well seen as other weapons due to its very high unlock and many players will go into prestige mode before they can use the weapon heavily. It should be noted that AK-47 receives a small amount of idle sway when any attachment other than the acog sight is added. Additionally, the AK-47 has some visual recoil, (result from the sights resetting after every shot), but the weapon is actually a bit more accurate than it may look. The AK-47 is among the more powerful rifles available, dealing 40-30 damage depending on range. The AK-47 is commonly compared to the TAR-21, another assault rifle with 40-30 damage. The AK-47 is inferior in terms of damage output compared to the TAR-21, but is considerably more accurate over ranged fights.

The AK-47 has a solid selection attachments, here are the unlock requirements: Grenade launcher (10 kills), red dot sight (25 kills), holographic sights. (Get 60 kills by aiming down red dot sight), silencer (75 kills), heartbeat sensor (get 15 kills with silencer attached), acog sight (150 kills), thermal sight (get 20 kills aiming down acog sight), FMJ (get 300 kills), Extended Magazines (get 40 bullet penetration kills with fmj attached)

Camo unlocks: Woodland (5 headshots), Digital (15 headshots), urban (30 headshots), blue tiger (75 headshots), red tiger (150 headshots), fall (250 headshots)

[edit] Call of Duty: Black Ops

Singleplayer The AK-47 has a much different look in comparison to the last Call of Duty (Modern Warfare 2), and it looks somewhat different from its COD4 counterpart. The AK-47 has wooden furniture, different sights, and also unlike Modern Warfare 2, it does have a muzzle brake. It is frequently carried/dropped by Soviets, Vietcong, and NVA soldiers. The AK-47 is first seen and used in "Vorkuta" and "Executive Order. The weapon is also commonly seen in "SOG,"Victor Charlie", "Crash Site", "WMD" (Patrolling Spetsnaz), and "Payback". In "Vorkuta", "Executive Order", and "Payback", the AK-47 is one of the players main starting weapons. In "SOG" and "Payback", it is possible to find an AK-47 with a flamethrower attachment.

Multiplayer The AK-47 costs 2000 points to buy, and is unlocked at level 38. The AK-47 does 40-30 damage at a rate of 750 RPM. The AK-47 is commonly compared to the Commando, which also does 40-30 damage with 750 RPM. Both guns have similar recoil values, while the AK-47 has visual recoil that is more noticeable than the Commando.

The recoil can make the weapon difficult to use at long range, but the weapon is very effective at mid range and quite usable for close quarters combat. Even with a moderate rate of fire, it is still a good idea to consider having either extended or dual magazines as the selected attachment.
