(Redirected from FN FAL)
The FAL, or Fusil Automatique Léger, is an Assault Rifle created in Belgium by FN. It is featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops and is also confirmed to appear in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The original FAL was fully automatic, and had a heavy barrel. A semi automatic variant was created which was cheaper to produce and lighter. The fully automatic version can fire up to 700 rounds per minute and is effective from as far as 600 metres away. The in game weapon is a semi automatic rifle which can hold up to 30 rounds.

 Campaign/Special Ops
The FAL is the only semi-automatic assault rifle in game. It can occassionally be found being used by Russian soliders, but is far more heavily used by the OpFor and Militia fighters. The FAL is most commonly found with a red dot sight, ACOG sight, or Shotgun attached. Although the FAL lacks the fire rates of automatic weapons, the FAL can make up this loss through its range, along with its high accuracy and damage.
The FAL in multiplayer is classed under the assault rifles, unlocked at level 28. The FAL has a 20 round mag and is the only semi automatic assault rifle in the game. Although a player may able to score get some kills with a quick trigger finger, the FAL's greatest strengths lie in mid and long range combat. The FAL sports the highest damage of any assault rifle, doing 55 damage up close, and 35 past its range dropoff. Along with the UMP .45, it is one of the few weapons beside sniper rifles that can kill in three shots or less, no matter what perks and attachments are used, along with range. This means Stopping Power has very little effect. Stopping Power however, does make the FAL a one headshot kill at close range.
The FAL's ironsights are generally unpopular among those who use the weapon, so a sight is a good choice should one not like the sights. The red dot sight is the first sight unlocked. However, it is mislaigned, as the shots will go slightly down and to the right of where the dot appears to be. The holographic sight is a more logical choice for two reasons. First, the sight is properly aligned. Second, the sight ups the FAL's long range damage from 35 to 40. When couple with Stopping Power, this makes the FAL a 2 shot kill at any range. (assuming the player is not dealing with last stand or shooting through cover) This makes the Bling Perk a more useful option. The holographic sight can be couple with a silencer for a more stealthy, but powerful primary. The shotgun attachment also can work well, as the shotgun attachment will become even better in fighting at ranges where the FAL is weak.
