The M1 Garand is a gas-operated semi-automatic rifle. It was used by the Allied Forces during World War 2. It was created by John Garand and often featured a Grenade Launcher attachment. It is an assault rifle, and it appears in at least two games in the Call of Duty franchise; Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War. However, it is likely that the gun also appears in other games in the series set in WWII.

In Call of Duty 3 this gun is used frequently. It is always powerful and accurate, and it has an eight round magazine loaded via an en bloc clip, was effective for 500 yards. The M1 Garand is semi-automatic but a generous fire cap lends it a decent rate of fire.

[edit] Call of Duty: World at War

The M1 Garand is also features in the World at War campaign and multiplayer. In Multiplayer, it is unlocked at rank 17. Its high power and accuracy make it a well-rounded gun although there is significant recoil. However, some players appreciae this high recoil becuase it increases the chance of a getting a headshot whilst aiming for centre mass. In World at War you can now reload the M1 Garand at any time, without having to eject the current clip.
