Sniper Rifle

A Sniper Rifle is a type of weapon featured in all installments of the Call of Duty series to date. It is a specialised rifle which usually feautures a long barrel chambered for large rounds and it is desinged to shoot targets at very long distances. It is exceedingly accurate, but usually slow-firing. Most sniper rifles feature telescopic sights to enable the user to hit targets at great distances. Whilst there are some purpose built sniper rifles, many models are standard rifles which have been adapted. Sniper Rifles in Call of Duty are usually divided into two categories; bolt-action rifles (such as the Intervention from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2), which are very powerful, often killing in one shot, but slow between shots; and semi-automatic rifles (such as the Barrett .50cal from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2), which generally do less damage, but can fire shots faster than their bolt-action counterparts.
