Variety Map Pack

The Variety Map pack was is the first (and so far only) map pack released by Infinity Ward for Call of Duty 4. It contains 4 maps for Call of Duty 4 and is available on the Xbox Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points, Playstation Store for $10 and on the PC for free. Xbox 360 users received the Variety map pack 20 days prior (it was released on April 4th) to it's release on the Playstation Store which came out on April 24th. PC users had to wait until June 5th until they were able to download the new maps.

The maps that were included in the pack are the following.

  • Broadcast - Many will recognize this map from the level, Charlie Don't Surf. It's the perfect map in a sense that is cater for nearly everyone. A large interior is joined by a smaller exterior which means Snipers are kept happy while those who prefer to use a Shotgun have the use of the corridors. Inside there is a large area where heavy fighting can occur. Great fun for those who like to play Search and Destroy and Team Deathmatch.
  • Chinatown - A remake of the old Call of Duty 1 and 2 map, Carentan it is excellent for close quarters combat. However, the action can take a while to start as many players prefer to camp as much as possible. Nearly every building is accessible so games such as Search and Destroy may end rather quickly. The best game modes for it are Team Deathmatch and Sabotage.
  • Creek - Creek is the largest map to feature on Call of Duty 4 and it's best suited for snipers. Two large areas are split down the middle by caves and a dried up river. This provides those who do not want to snipe a perfect opportunity to get right into the action. Due to it's large nature, it is suited to game modes such as Team Deathmatch.
  • Killhouse - This very fast paced map will certainly remind players of the level, F.N.G. Strangely enough sniping occurs quite a few times on this map as there is a lookout tower in the middle which can be hard to besiege. But the real fighting is on the ground and up close where shotguns and SMG's come out on top the majority of the time. Perfect for Team Deathmatch and Headquarters.
