As the name Modern Warfare suggests, the weapons in Call of Duty 4 are from a more modern era. The weapons range from the powerful Desert Eagle to the stealthy Mini-Uzi and to the legendary AK-47. Each weapon in multiplayer is customizable, meaning you can add attachments like weapon suppressors and camouflage patterns to your weapon in order to give it a unique personality. In single player, however, you can only use the weapons given to you at the start of the mission or the weapons you found in the mission. Some attachments are present only in single player, for example a suppressor on a sniper rifle.

Assault Rifles

M16 - A Burst Fire Assault rifle capable of killing an opposing player with one burst. Best used from medium to long range. Can be equipped with: Grenade launcher, Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope. Unlocked first time playing multiplayer.

AK-47 - A fully automatic assault rifle with very powerful rounds. One of the most damaging assault rifles. Best used at medium range. Can be equipped with: Grenade launcher, Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope. Unlocked first time playing multiplayer. ---------------> Golden AK-47 unlocked after achieving Red Tiger camo on all the Assault Rifles, including itself.

M4 Carbine - A fully automatic assault rifle with average rounds. Rate of fire is relatively high. Best used from medium to long range. Can be equipped with: Can be equipped with: Grenade launcher, Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope. Unlocked at rank 10.

G3 - A semi automatic assault rifle that can kill in just a few shots. The weapon of choice for most hardcore players. Best used from medium to long range. Can be equipped with: Grenade launcher, Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope. Unlocked at rank 25.

G36C - A fully automatic assault rifle that is relatively average, although compared to other assault rifles, has a bit more recoil. Best used at medium range. Can be equipped with: Grenade launcher, Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope. Unlocked at rank 37.

M14 - A semi automatic assault rifle that can be compared to the G3. It is also very powerful, but loud, unlike the G3. Best used from medium to long range. Can be equipped with: Grenade launcher, Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope. Unlocked at rank 46.

MP44 - A fully automatic assault rifle brought back from the older Call of Duty game. The worlds first assault rifle. Best used from medium to long range. No attachments available. Unlocked at rank 52.

SMGs

MP5 - Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope.

Skorpion - Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope.

Mini-Uzi - Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope. ---------------> Golden Mini-Uzi unlocked after achieving Red Tiger camo on all the SMGs, including itself.

AK-74U - Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope.

P90 - Red dot sight, Silencer , ACOG scope.

LMGs

M249-SAW - Red Dot Sight, Grip, ACOG Scope.

RPD - Red Dot Sight, Grip, ACOG Scope.

M60E4 - Red Dot Sight, Grip, ACOG Scope. ---------------> Golden M60 unlocked after achieving Red Tiger camo on all the LMGs, including itself.

Shotguns

W1200 - Red Dot Sight, Grip.

M1014 - Red Dot Sight, Grip. ---------------> Golden M1014 unlocked after achieving Red Tiger on both the Shotguns, including itself.

Sniper Rifles

Note: You automatically get a Ghillie Suit if you are wielding a Sniper Rifle.

M40A3 - A bolt action sniper rifle. It is very accurate but has a low fire rate. Best used at long range. Can be equipped with: ACOG Scope. Unlocked at rank 4.

M21 - A semi automatic sniper rifle. It has the highest fire rate out of all snipers and has very low recoil. Best used at long range. Can be equipped with: ACOG Scope. Unlocked first time playing multiplayer.

Dragunov - Another semi automatic sniper rifle. It has more recoil than the M21 but also inflicts higher damage. Can be equipped with: ACOG Scope. Unlocked at rank 22. ---------------> Golden Dragunov unlocked after achieving Red Tiger camo on all the Sniper Rifles, including itself.

R700 - A bolt action sniper rifle with astonishing recoil. Although the recoil makes this rifle hard to use properly, hardcore players prefer it because of its outstanding damage. Can be equipped with: ACOG Scope. Unlocked at rank 34.

Barret .50Cal - A semi automatic sniper rifle with relatively high recoil. It inflicts a high amount of damage. Can be equipped with: ACOG Scope. Unlocked at rank 49.
